Privacy
Deutschkarten does not have an account, and it does not send your deck anywhere.
James Leech makes the app. This page is the privacy policy for the iOS app and for this website.
On your phone
Cards, sets, review history, and settings stay in the app’s storage on the device. The starter recordings ship inside the app. If a recording is missing, iOS speaks the word on the device.
The camera is used only to scan a QR code that syncs a deck with another device on the same Wi-Fi. The picture is not saved. That sync runs between the two devices. It is not uploaded.
Motion from the phone can undo a rating. That reading stays on the device.
What leaves the phone
The first time the app draws its type, it downloads Syne, Figtree, IBM Plex Mono, and Source Serif 4 from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com). That request includes the device’s IP address, which Google receives under Google’s privacy policy. James Leech does not receive that address, and the app does not send the deck with the request. The font files are cached on the phone after that.
This website loads Syne and Figtree from Google Fonts the same way.
What the app does not do
- No account, name, or email collected by the app.
- No advertising and no tracking across other companies’ apps.
- No analytics and no crash reports sent to the developer.
- No sale of information. There is nothing held to sell.
Children
The app is a general language tool. It does not ask for an age and it does not collect personal information from anyone.
